Kristina Stundtner our new Director of the HCCA’s Children’s Chorale and a dedicated music educator within the Madison City School System. She currently teaches at Heritage Elementary School, where she has led a wide range of musical ensembles, including Heritage’s Harmony Club, Recorder Club, Drum Bucket Club, Ukulele Club, and Carolers. In addition to her work at Heritage, she has directed the West Madison Children’s Choir, the Discovery Middle School Clarinet Ensemble, and has assisted with the Liberty Middle School Beginner Band. She is also one of the founders and directors of the Madison City Fifth Grade Honor Chorus.

Kristina holds a Bachelor of Music Education (P–12) from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, with concentrations in clarinet, saxophone, and voice. During her time at UAH, she was awarded the Bill Dale Endowed Music Scholarship, the Verna and Gerald Smith Scholarship, and the UAH Wind Ensemble Scholarship. She served as a UAH Music Department Ambassador, was principal chair clarinetist in the UAH Wind Ensemble and performed tenor and baritone saxophone with the UAH Jazz Band. She also sang and played tenor saxophone with the UAH Latin Jazz Ensemble, which included a performance tour in Havana, Cuba at the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Jazz Club, El Zorro y El Cuervo. Her performance experience also includes work with the UAH Choir, Percussion Ensemble, and various UAH Jazz Combos at private events.

Her professional affiliations include the American Choral Directors Association, the National Association for Music Education, the Alabama Music Educators Association, the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, the Madison Education Association, and the National Education Association. She is a member of several honor societies, including Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Kappa Lambda, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Sigma Iota, Phi Theta Kappa, and Mu Alpha Theta. Additionally, Kristina is certified in World Drumming, a certified Leader in Me educator, and serves as a liaison for the Alabama Arts Alliance.

Beyond the classroom, Kristina has performed with Twickenham Winds, played clarinet for local theater performances and sung with several adult church choirs across Georgia and Alabama. She has directed various children’s church choir programs and provided private instruction in woodwinds and voice for over twenty years. Her students have earned numerous accolades, including top placements in Solo & Ensemble festivals, JSU Honor Band, AU Honor Band, AU Honor Band, District and All-State Honor Bands, Young Voices Festival Choir, AMEA Festival Choir, as well as District and All-State Honor Choirs. Many of her students also hold leading roles in musical theatre productions throughout Huntsville and the surrounding areas.

Kristina is married to Matthew Stundtner, who also serves in the Madison City School System. She is a proud bonus-mom to twin adult daughters and a devoted pet-parent to two dogs and two parakeets.
